Closer look: Braddock Tiles print rewards

Hi Braddock Tiles backers!
Over the years, over 75 artists have donated images to Braddock Tiles' ongoing series of affordable art prints. For this Kickstarter campaign, we asked some of our favorite artists to contribute to a special print release only available here.
Each is a limited-edition, super-high-quality giclee print, 13" x 19", embossed and numbered by Braddock Tiles. With this series, our goal is to create affordable art objects available by artists whose work would often not be available in that price range.
For a pledge of $50, you can choose from prints by Swoon, Ron English, Tara McPherson, Momo, Lilkool, and Braddock resident Jim Kidd.
If you have questions about rewards, or are interested in bundling multiple rewards with your pledge, drop us a line at [email protected].
Thanks for your support!

Braddock Tiles: The Impact of Making

Dear Braddock Tiles Backers --
Alright y’all! In just a week, our Braddock Tiles Kickstarter
is already over 70% of our goal. Thank you to everyone who’s pledged! It’s a really good feeling to see a family of support emerge around this project.
I'm also excited to share this closer look at North Braddock, made by film maker Fredric King. Take a look!
With our first goal inching so close, I'm getting really excited about the possibility of hitting our stretch goal. If we make it to $100,000, we'll have the money to hire our first batch of apprentices. Braddock Tiles ceramic studio will be a place to learn new skill-sets while on the job.
And again, big, huge, bottomless thanks,
-- Callie

The momentum of possibilty

Today is another great day! We have happily cleared 60% and we are beginning think about the next steps, and the goals that we have laid out before us.
When I last left North Braddock just a few days ago, we had been starting to think about who our apprentices might be, should this Kickstarter get us far enough that we could, not only finish the basement, but buy all the kilns and mixers, and start hiring folks.
We were tossing bricks in the lot across from the church, trying to get a place for employee parking laid out, and I was talking to Dario, one of the kids who we’ve known since we first started in 2007. Dario has been all the way through the Braddock Youth Project, and now, is a father, has aged out of the youth program, and is looking for real work. I told him I couldn’t promise anything because fundraising is unpredictable but that I hoped I’d have some good news for him in a few weeks.
With our first goal inching so close, I'm starting to get really excited at the possibility of hitting our stretch goal. This would let us hire our first batch of apprentices and make the Braddock Tiles ceramic studio a perfect place for Dario to be hired on to learn the skill-set of a tile maker.
I know from our work in Haiti that creating jobs in a hard hit area is one of the most powerful aspects of any community building project, and so without reservation, I say, let’s do this! Let’s keep pushing past that first goal of fixing up the basement, and into the stretch goal of becoming a fully functional ceramics workshop and starting to hire folks like Dario.
If there are ways you can be a part of keeping this momentum going - from sharing with family and friends, to posting on blogs, and just generally spreading the word, we’d be all for it.
Thanks again,
Callie

Wow! Way to start us off! It’s just day one, and we are headed straight for 50% of our first goal. So phenomenal. This project has been a long time in coming. The work started off slow, and has gradually gained momentum, until now, when we are ready to go full steam ahead. Thanks for being part of this moment with us!
